Flowtech Headers
Well a couple days ago I noticed a pretty good exhaust leak from the passenger side header. After checking it out further, part of the crappy fiber collector gasket was gone. Well I decided to replace it with the copper gaskets. Well I took it apart and low and behold the rolled part of the flange was rusted out and actually fell on the ground.
Well I had to replace the headers. I bought a set of Flowtech Headers at Kragen for $84.22. I know they are cheep but WOW what a differance. I used the gaskets that came with them (grafoil) and Ultra Black silicone. I used the copper collector gaskets. I used some header bolts from Napa they have 7/16 heads and a allen hole in them so u can put them in with a socket and then torque em with a 7/16 box wrench. I used some Blue Locktight on the bolts. The fit was PERFECT. All I had to do was use a file to remove some welding slag and paint of the header flanges. Fow the price they are well worth it. I notice alot better power and they are so much quieter than what I had. Anyway just thought I would rant this morning. Once again Thanks to everyone for all the help and info I have recieved here.

You have to like cheap headers that fit and work well.
Since I drive my truck even in midwestern winters, I have just come to expect to replace the headers periodically. |

Good to hear. I put flowtech's on my truck, but only have about 6 miles on it since ( truck still needs LOTS of work). But when we opened the box, we thought they looked not bad, for the money. I spent the 90's in the wonderful world of air-cooled VW's and haven't bought a set of V-8 headers in a very long time.
