just to clear things up i mean like when i drive the truck after a fill up it leaks out the cap, wanted to make sure you understood that, its not like i leak gas from the nozzle when i fill the truck

I`ve had that problem,we`re not alone.I`ve seen plenty nice trucks with either dull, yellowed,or cracked paint.Or,tarnished, bleached woodgrain moulding on cab corner. After a fill-up,usually with left side sitting lower it`ll happen.Often, later on,once the temperature rises and the vapors expand.I`ve had this happen on a job-site(dirt).When I noticed, later in the morning,I moved the truck and lit the spot.Never seen a 4"diameter spot burn for so long.Probably about 10 min.Changed the cap.

First thing I buy for these trucks is a locking vented cap and have never had a problem of them leaking. Only problems I have had were with stock and stock type caps.

Sounds like your gasket is worn. Common problem.

I had to bend the (2) prongs on a gas cap to get it to seal tight enough to quit leaking like you're talking about. And that was after replacing the gasket...

New cap should fix it. Also, when you paint, a good clear coat will resist gasoline.

Mine does the same thing, particularly on a hot day. I think I'm also in line for a new gasket. Ahhh, heck. I might go nuts & pay the $5.00 for a new locking gas cap.

I have in the past cut a shim out of a plastic milk carton to fit behind the gasket to fix this problem.

Speaking of locking gas caps, I had to use a hair dryer to get mine off yesterday! I put the old non locking cap back on until things warm up. First time that happened and it's been on there for over 7 years now. Man,it's been downright cold here in Pa! (9 degrees that morning)
The only time mine will leak gas is if I fill the tank and then park it in the sun on a hot day. The gas expands and starts dripping out of the cap.

i cured my truck of the old leaking gas cap by bending the RIM of the gas filler neck up on the inside. this is what gets mashed down after time and so, the gas caps, even if new will not fit tight. TRY IT!

That happened on mine as well. I still have the original gas cap on mine with the leather seal. I put oil on the seal and let it set and I only fill the tank to a little over 3/4. Hasn't happened since.

once in a while, I won't screw it on right and it'll leak like a seive, or it'll just leak for the sake of leaking when I go around corners or something. I've just learned to fill the tank so that it won't slosh out.
