saw something strange at the Recycling Yard

I visited a vintage yard yesterday. I saw lots of things that I hadn't seen in years. Something really strange was a 65-66 panel truck Not your everyday run of the mill panel truck, this thing was HUGE super long wheelbase and it had a (guessing) 3 foot overhang from the rear of the fenderwell openings. Any ideas of how many of these things were made?

Hey Vince, I'm from the Lehigh Valley..not too far from you. My buddy & I have exhausted just about all of the junkyards in our area & we're branching out as far as Hazleton. Most of the Pennsylvania yards are cleaning out their old stuff, so I'm very curious as to where this place is that you're talking about. Are there many of the 60-66 truck variety? Do they let you walk around the yard & pull your own stuff?

I think they are 1 tons, but what do I know....There is a GMC one sitting where I am, thought about getting it and taking all the suspension and stuff out of my 89 and putting it in, but I have enough stuff going already. There is a yard near me that has quite a few 60-66 trucks in it. They have the long wheelbase one too. Just realized the other day after seeing for about 4 years. I haven't checked yet, but in PA below Corning NY there is "supposedly" a yard there that has ALOT of these trucks in it, but haven't been there, so I can't verify......
