rebuilding '54 235 engine. Small things i need to do?????
Hey im rebuilding a 235 for my 53 3/4 ton truck. is there any cheap horsepower in the engines im gonna have the head worked should i have it milled down alittle just looking for things i should do while im there. not trying to get to wild just things i should do. Thanks Chris

the old stovebolts blowup at 3400rpm the only easy thing is header and more carbs. everything else is expensive because it's not done very often. I think it''s cool you are keepiog the 235

You could put a aftermarket intake and carb on her. Clifford makes one that does boost the hp. Had one on mine and it really made a difference.

HEI, headers, 4 barrel intake and carb, heads shaved, ported and polished. All this will give you a bit of HP boost

More carb and headers helped mine quite a lot. I have dual carbs and Fenton headers on mine. I'm going to rebuild my engine also, and the only thing I'm going to ,add is a cam. Good luck.
