'58 Chevy S/w Fleetside - For Sale

Hello everyone! I found this website while looking for a '72 Blazer and realized that there was a forum for 55-59's as well. I just happen to have a '58 Chevy big back window with a short wide fleetside bed for sale. This pickup started life as a step side with the stainless steel trim on the cab. I found the fleetside and fell in love with it and....many...many...many... thousands of dollars later I finally completed the project. The only reason I am selling this truck is because I have moved to Klamath Falls, OR and the weather will not really let me enjoy it. That is why I am looking for a '72 4x4 Blazer.

Anyway I am asking $34,900 for the truck. I am sure that most of you realize that you can not build a truck of this caliber (unless you do everything yourself) for $34,900. I have way more into it than I am asking and am losing money at this price, however that is my loss and your gain. If you are seriously interested PM me with your email and I will send you more pictures and a data sheet with most of the components on it.

The pickup was on the cover of Classic Truck Magazine, was the cover truck for Brother's Truck Parts, and basically wins awards at most shows I attend. It rides very nice, tracks straight down the road and turns heads!

I would like to know about your chassis. Is it a stock frame with a front clip welded in ? and if so, what type of clip is in it. I would love to know how you achieved that stance. It's the exact one I want for the wifes 58 GMC short fleetside. This has to be the nicest 58/59 fleetside I have ever seen

Thanks for the compliments. I made the truck to damn nice, I am afraid to drive it now! Although it is quite fun to drive because it attracts attention wherever it goes.

It is the original frame. I boxed the frame all the way back and "C" the rear end. I have reverse arch springs in the rear and the front is clip out of a Volare. The Volare clip offers torsion bars so you can raise it an lower it to your liking. Fat man Products is now making a 2.5" dropped front spindle for the Volares, therefore you can crank the tension in the torsion bar back up so that you have a very nice ride. Prior to the dropped spindles, I lowered the tension on the torsion bars to get the height I wanted. However, with less tension the front end bottomed out, even after I cut the bump stops. Now it rides awesome.

you wouldn't happen to have pics of the chassis when the clip was installed do you? The reason I ask is the previous owner of Shawnas 58 welded in the Nova clip that sits under hers and it doesn't look right. I have been searching all over the place for pics of welded in IFS front clips

I'm sorry to say that I don't. The clip was welded in over 13 years ago. This was an 11 year project for me to complete. We didn't have digital cameras back then.... I'm not sure what I am thinking by selling it, but its only a car right........

Hey Dubie, if you're interested I've got digital pics of the ifs on my '59...it's not a clip out of a car but an aftermarket unit from "No-Limit Engineering".
Let me know if you're interested in seeing them...These should give you an idea of how it sits.

Did you have to do a lot of modifications to get the unit from "No-Limit" to work. I have not had very good luck with stuff from there fitting. Always had to modify the stuff! There are several other companies that have nice looking clips!

Anyway the big news is I SOLD my '58 today for $32,000 ... I know that I will probably regret this day But the reality is that my '58 was not practical in K-falls Oregon. The weather and roads were going to ruin it. Now at least I have the Cash for the 72 Blazer that I have been looking for!

resin: I think I have pics of yours saved already Gotta keep these things on file ya know I am looking for pics of welding the frame rails of a car front clip to a truck frame properl. Ours isn't done right, but it will work.

Nope, the "No Limit" unit went in very easily...actually very simple to install, no modifications whatsoever
I'd highly recomend one to anybody interested in an IFS for a 55-59 Chevy.
