I would say you will have to buy a new windsheild. That comes with age.

Hey,
That 72 442 under serious construction wouldn't be a convertible would it? One of my favorite looking rides. Sky blue exterior with a white interior and white top. Good luck on the construction. I'm with Tim on the windshield. I think it has something to do with the plastic sandwiched between the glass.

I've never heard of a fix for that. It's caused by the 2 layers of glass seperating. Toss in a new windshield. You'll love the way it looks too! Crystal clear.

Yeah, it is from the layers of plastic and silicone and glass seperating. Tehse trucks seem to be pretty bad about it too.

We all have that stuff. The guys above are right. It's from layer separation.

Of course you could scrub REAL hard, and maybe in 200 years you could actually make it through the first layer and finally get to the stuff, but of course the whole windshield would be like that then. :P

Start planning to get a new one.

Go outside crab a big rock, brick or cynder block, stand infront of hood-throw it HARD so it doesnt bounce back on the hood, thats the only fix, then take to glas shop and have new windshield installed,or just live with it,id do,i tell everone its a rare factory option, never owned a truck without it though.

Yeah, everyone I owned or worked on that had original glass had it. Some worse than others. I don't even notice mine anymore, but ppl who get in ask about it as soon as they get used to the noise. (that's the first thing they notice)

I have a crack going all the way across my windshield horizontally with the spiderweb in the upper right corner. All around the edges, there is about a 2-3 inch white strip. People get in and ask me how the hell do I see out. It doesn't bother me at all. I can see right over the crack, and the other stuff is out of the way.

DANG, I was hoping there was some kind of heat treat method of getting rid of that crap without having to buy new, windshield is not cracked or pitted bad or anything....DDSmith, no, unfortunately, that 442 is not a convertible, it's a hardtop with a long way to go, all I've done so far is set the engine in it, still trying to decide on a rear end. I think maybe Desert Rat had this car at one time and decided to fix the white smokey stuff in the windshield, it's not broke clear out, but has a big ugly spiderweb crack in the top right corner.

Cool

Put in a new sheild and problem is solved. The new windows don't have these layers of plastic inside of them like our old ones did.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
