Question gauge cluster wiring problem...HELP

Hi all I converted (or atleast I am trying to) from the old idiot lights to the full gauge cluster and I am having problems with the wiring and them not working properly. I got some info. on this forum and a print out sheet with all of the correct wiring digrams for the conversion but mine still doesnt work right. the gauge that even attemps to "work" or move is the fuel gauge and it spins when I use the starter but when I release the starter after the motor cranks it stops where it is???? whats up with my cluster wiring? any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks, Brad.

You didn't rewire the harness plug did you?
Even though the plug is the same, the harness is different.

And your fuel guage...it's junk now...ask me how I know.

Sounds like you were putting power to the ground terminal on the fuel guage. It'll probably never work again. The good news is they are pretty cheap on the parts page...10 bucks oughta get you one.

well you re wired the plug, but did you get the right temp sensor, because the sensor for the idiot lights is different, and you have to run another wire for the ammeter to work because it works by sensing the current drop between two areas, and I should hope your oil guage is working because thats just a hard copper line, if that doesnt work, then you really done something wrong, did you hook up the grounding strap on the back of the cluster to the dash, that is another common mistake people do, i forgot to hook it up in my Monte Carlo when I did the tach conversion in it, its easy to miss
