I do have one question about her though....On the back of the truck there are 2 "lights" just ahead of the tail lights on both sides..are these stock..?? I had one person look at the truck and said that 67 's did not have this feature is this true?? thanks GTA........ |

Those are side markers and no they were not on 67's only 68-up. It could be the bed was swapped out. Last year of the 283 was 67 so if the engine is the original, it's a 67. There are other clues as well, pics would help.

Welcome home, from St. Louis. lol
First rule of the site is: Must post pics! Lots of them. Second rule: describe your truck in as much detail as possible. As a Newbie you are required to donate what ever parts any of the other members need and transport them yourself. Then if on time with said deliveries you will be welcome to stay. Jking of Course, but its a nice thought I think.

Its true that 67 are not supposed to have them but that is possible. My dad's truck is completely original and the title and the vin # say it's a 67...BUT both front and rear fenders are "68." I believe my dad's truck was a victim to a mistake or a parts shortage at the factory. If just your rear fenders have the sidemarkers then the bed was probably swapped out at sometime.

Thanks for the welcome I am going to say that the bed was probably swaped out sometime over her life..... Only the bed has these lights there are no side lights on the front fenders.....as for the 283 it is not original, this i know B/c to start this was a 250 , 3in the tree truck...over the past 10 years that i have had it it has had 2 - 283's 2 transmissions a few different diffs.... and many other parts ...this truck is like that song...."One piece at a time" .I will go and get the vin off it today and repost it here tonite, maybe you folks can tell me something more about the "General" than i know....GTA

A Washington Welcome to the board. While you have the camera out snap one of the plate inside the golve box door, that will tell all if it is still readable.

don't worry about us laughing at your truck. The neighbors called the fire marshall about mine last spring ( with good reason). If it hasn't been crushed yet , it's still got "potential".
