Question 1984 door hinges.....help...questions? New thread on this....

Would it be better to just replace the entire hinge on this 1984 I just bought----driver door sags........? (instead if piece meal with replacing the bushings etc, seperately....)?

I have found some (which include the bushings, etc.) and they are $15 for the entire unit .....Would it be easier to mark the outline of the hinge on the truck, take off the old upper hinge, put on the new upper hinge, and hopefully everything will be good to go......

I guess I would lean toward replacement of the hinges. I have replaced the pins and bushings and the result was mediocre. I didn't like the fit of the pins in the bushings.

If you look you can find new hinges reasonable. I just won a set of new GM hinges on Ebay for $60 shipped. That made it a no brainer for me.

Do I need to take the fender off to get at the old upper hinge to replace it? Can I replace the old with a new and leave the fender on there?? How would you do this???

I have replaced the pin at that price BY THE HINGE will save you alot of time. With the door open all the way put a jack under the door to take the weight off of it and replace them one at a time.

Yes,
I'm a body man, if theres no wires to the door take the door off. If theres wires you may have to support it, or take them out of the door.
To get to the upper henge 2 bolts in the jam area 1 from the inside. Take off dash bezel, then A/C vent and accsess bolt in thr henge piler. You may have to take door on and off a couple of times to aline door correctly. If you have trouble PM me or Email me. ureckmefix@cox.net
