Look in summit or jegs, you can get eng swap mounts, headers & radiator. I did a swap in a 86 shortbed,& used a 6" tail 350T for proper positioning. There wernt any trick bolt in pcs in this one, everything was pretty much fitted. I used a log style ex manifold (monte carlo),& an aluminum Vette radiator. You can probably plan on a little BFH work on the firewall,& a small starter,or some trimming on the crossmember. You have heard the guys complain about the HEI fitting tight in the 67-72s on 6 stands.......you havent seen tight till you see that one! I have a small block chev in a 89 ford ranger, & the old points dist fits tight.....again BFH! good luck .....69 longhorn.

I know it can be done because my neighbor mechanic just put a 500 hp small block chev into an '87 s10 blazer,he put electric fans and a serpantine set-up on it also .by the looks of it he didn't have to cut much,he also put headers on it.

i need to know if its easy enough to bother with it.if it is ill buy the car and drop mine in.

this is looking more interesting as the minutes go by

around here all the mexicans drive s10s and espeically the blazer ones so hmm drop in a 350 lower it afew leave old paint then beat the hell out of every rice burner around town sounds good enough plus i doubt anyone would suspect a s10 blazer to be a hotrod:P

I've looked into this conversion many times. From waht i know all you need is a smallblock, the motor mounts for a SB, some special headers and a special steering shaft that is in a couple pieces. The reason for the steering shaft is because it snakes through the headers i was told. Aside from that a 700r4 or a 4l60e works behind a small block no problemo really. I've heard of upgrading the radiator but i dont know how much work is involved. Regarding AC i'm not sure but a few i seen had to rig some stuff funky to get around certain AC parts, good luck....

Thumbs up

Been there - Had that...
BE SURE you talkin' 2wd S-10....
It can be done 4x4 but, big headache...
I had a '86 2wd S-10 Blazer. Was very fun!
I bought my headers and motor mounts from a Speed Shop called "The Speed Center" the phone # is 605-348-3850 (Brent or Mike) they used a Sanderson Header with "in-house" built motor mount plates, I used long water-pump (81-82 chevy big car donor) and a 73-79 chevy pick up 4-core radiator(I think) If I were to do again I'd use the late model serpentine belt assy. from 4.3l or 305/350. the Blazer frames are a bit different than the pick-ups, you can run a "Stock" size starter on the Blazers, but not the pick-ups (I can't tell you why)...I also ran a stock short tailshaft Th-350, only had to elongate mount hole on crossmember. I did NO BFH modifications to my firewall... Hope this helps...E-mail me "BN332000@aol.com" or call 605-381-8575 after 5:00 MT... Bryan
