Lightbulb thinking about a project

Alright, i have a 69 chevy c-10 with the 250, and a 3 speed. I also have a line on a 70 chevy k-10 or 20 (not sure which, haven't seen it yet) with a v8, auto, but the body is really rough for $500. The drivetrain, frame and such are supposed to be in fairly good condition.

The project, i was thinking about buying the 70 and taking the body off the 69 (redo it while it is off) and put that body on the 4x4 frame. Good idea, bad idea? How hard will this be to do? I would also paint the frame, axles, and such while it is down to the frame, and freshen up the motor. Any idea of the cost of parts needed to do this swap?

Thanks for any help or suggestions

JT Jones

It would be straight forward, that's what I did with my 71. I put a 70 c20 cab/bed on a 71 K20 rolling chassis.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

You may want to find a high hump for your floor board, if you dont have one already.

That is exactly what i am doing right now. I have (had) a '71 chevy 4x4 swb stepside which i ditched all the body from, except the bed, and swapped them for panels and cab from a 1971 2wd GMC. Everything seems to line up fine no problems yet. I am currently doing body work but have already rebuilt my motor, painted axles and frame, new brake lines, etc. Good luck to you.

Like Randy said, I had to cut the low hump out and bolt in my high hump from the 71s cab to clear the 4spd tranny.
