Is this an original paint scheme?

(see small picture above)

See how it is white on top and bottom and red in the middle. Most of the ones I have seen around here are white on top and red with a white stripe down the center.

Is this possibly a GMC paint scheme? The vin plate says it is a GMC but the front clip is off a Chevy.

What year is it? I see the 71/72 grill, but since it isn't original, I gotta ask.
That scheme was most common in the 67/67...but I know for a fact is was still avalible in the 69/70...and suspect it was in the 71/72 also, but have yet to see proof.
So the older it is, the more likely it is a correct scheme.

I believe it goes like this.Standard 2-tone:Red w/White top,Conventional 2-tone:Red w/White top & below belt moulding,and Deluxe 2-tone:Red w/White top & between upper/lower(belt)mouldings.The deluxe was`69-up with the newer moulding style.Before that,the first two were the options.Don`t think the Conv.was refered to as that.Probably Deluxe.

What year? Which part! The cab is a 72 GMC. I believe the front end is from a (green) 71 Chevy.

The bed is from who knows where. It was originally white and later yellow before becoming red/white. I suspect the bed was from a DOT truck. I was told they had yellow trucks back then.

The engine is out of an 84.

I am looking for someone with a GMC front end to swap with.

Here is a former member's ride. Canadian member by the name of Pig Pen if memory serves.
This Longhorn has been repainted, but I have the before pics (on another computer) which show the exact same paint colors and scheme. Looked exacly like it does in this pic....only non-shiney.
