Trying to find out how to tell how big of a fuel tank I have. It's a 85 k5 blazer
1/2 ton. Fuel sending unit is now working and need to get the right one after i run the gas out. |

This might get moved to the Blazer or 73-87 section, but it most likely has the standard 28 gal tank. Have you checked the options sheet in the glovebox.

Yea Chris, but it did not show what type of tank was in it. I know that that year came with 20, 26 and 36 gls. I found that out at chucks chevy site. I need to get the gas guage working right. I filled it up one day and it showed 1/4 tank but ran it for a week before it went down. Does the tanks have different measurements that I could find?

25-gallon is 10-3/4" deep and the bottom half is shorter than the top half.
31-gallon is 12-3/4" deep and bottom half is about the same depth as the top half.

Thanks on the measurements. I will try this weekend to get under it if it does not snow/rain, but now O'm sure it is 31 gls.
