factory aux fule tank picts

For those of you have not seen what the factory aux tank look like. Here you go.
Notice how the carriage bolts go thru the tank? This is the first time I have EVER seen these bolts not rusted, or I should say welded to the tank.

When I took mine off it took quite a while even using a grinder to get them off. the tanks look in great shape.

Hey mtdave, 2?'s. Do you know where I can find one of the nuts for these bolts. Have you seen any for sale on here. For some odd reason I'm missing one. Also, what tool do you use to take these off. Tried to use the end of ratchet extension but was a hair to big for the hole.

Thanks, Scott

Ditto.

Mine came off by grinding the heads of the bolts off.
Then I used an 8 pound sledge hammer to whack the remains of the bolt out. Then I cleaned/blasted/rammed the rust/dirt/crud out of the holes.

For new bolts I bought a short 1/2" carriage bolt and a long piece of 1/2" threaded rod. I measured what I needed then welded two bolts together that long.

For the nuts on the bottom I simply used a big washer, then a lock washer, then a nut. It has been that way for a couple of years now.
