The question I have is a 208 xcase out of a auto the same as a stick can i pull the one out of the stick and put in the one that came from the auto will they both swap.

should be a 10 spline output on the 4spd and depending on the transmission the 208 came off of it is either going to be 27 or 32 spline. that and the adapters are or should be different. The 73 should be like a figure 8 on both ends and the 85 should be round on both sides if iff a 400 or square on one round on the other if it s a 350 trans.... a newer 4 spd could work, generally are 32 spline, so to answer no it won't with what you got now. ,

The SM465 4spd had 3 output shaft options
1-splined and threaded for a bolt on yoke. (2wd)
2-short course spline[10??] (np205 and np203 and???)
3-long fine 32 spline shaft (np208and???)
if you look at advanc adapters transfer case adapter page
it gets a little more in depth.
