Headers/Coatings
I know this has been talked about here. What kind of coating works for daily drivers? I have tried Jet Hot, and powdercoatings twice now. First powder job went 1 year and the second time (new headers) went for 2 years. They look like crap. Thinking about tryin Airborne Coating out in Oklahoma this time. Was told the guy used to be with Jet Hot but had a falling out and started Airborne. They look like they have a lot of ittle pin holes in the powder coating that is rusting. Comments?

Have you heard how the aluminum ones are? I've seen a few of them but not sure how they'd be on a driver, could be a bit pricey also.

I just tried Eastwoods stainless steel manifold paint but it's starting to rust through. It sure did add some time to their life expectancy, that's for sure. Better than nothing.
Headers are cheap enough ($85 for my last set) so I doubt I'll pull em, sandblast and recoat again.

We have started using a ceramic coating lately that has proven to be a good alternative to powder.
The highest temp powders I've found have been 600 deg constant temp and 1400 one time temp. As you know the 600 deg isn't good enough for exhaust parts. We recently coated a header for a sprint car with the ceramic, and after the 3rd week of racing it shows no signs of burn-off. The mfg. says the ceramic will be good up to 1400 constant temp. We are currently charging $250 for a set of full size headers. $150 for manifolds. The ceramic coatings come in shades of silver,grey,black, and a gold color. They are flat in finish. Don't hooker headers come with ceramic coatings?
Are these any good?
