I did take off a GOOD heat shield off the one, it will be for sale once I figure out what its worth. I know nothing about these motors, THATS WHY I'M ASKING!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Randy

The last year for the 305 V6 in a pickup was 69. There are 2 sizes of radiator shrouds, the smaller one is for the 305 GMC only, but the larger one is a big block shroud (you can check the part number on the shroud). I have bought and sold complete engines for around $150. The larger 351 V6 will bring more money. Check the engine number in front of the pass side head. Should say 351 or 305E in the number. Are either one connected to an automatic trans? I am interested in some parts or one of the complete motors. Need some more details. Bobby could bring it back.

Radiator Shroud

The GMC radiator shroud I have looks just like the big block one but fits the narrow radiator mounting holes on the core support.

Thanks guys for ALL the info
Erl, I don't have either one bought I'm not going back up there in a couple weeks. One was a AT not sure on the whole price of it, one was a 4 speed shroud was broke on it, I'd need $150 for motor out of it, I was thinking they out to be worth $150-$200. Bobby is also hauling back a blazer for himself from here.
Thanks Randy

They just weren't in the 1/2 ton trucks.

The V-6s that were available after 69 are all dealer installed. If you wanted a GMC truck with a V-6 the dealer would order an engine and install it in the truck. It added about $1000 to the price of the truck. If anyone knows of a 70-72 truck with a V-6, check the VIN. Factory equipped V-6 trucks will be either a CM or KM VIN code.

Longhorn Man,

That would be a good one to document for future reference. I haven't seen any GMC service manuals with the V-6 listed for any years after 69. If a dealer ordered a truck with converting it in mind would the factory assign a V-6 VIN to it for warranty purposes? Or did the factory also produce some of these trucks with V-6s as a COPO? Do you still have access to that truck? Was it a Longhorn?

Well, I am going junk yarding today, I'll see if it is still there, if so, I'll get some pics.
it's not a longhorn, but it is a GMC one ton cab/chassis 133 inch WB daulie, V-6 w/4 speed and a cargo box on the back. It's been laying on it's side in the corner of Woodies junk yard for years and has been overlooked by man (including the crusher) becouse it has been hidden by a semi flat bed trailer or two.
