I know I will need to buy a grinder. What size / RPM / etc. should I be looking for?

What about attachments? Seen quite a few on Eastwood web site (taking off paint / rust / grinding down welds) Any suggestions on what works well and what to avoid would help a bunch. Thanks.

I got an "el cheapo" Black and Decker 4.5",10,000 rpm(max) grinder and It's taken what I've thrown at it so far.

As far as "attachments" go get various grit "flapper disks, a couple grinding disks and about a 10 pack of cutting wheels.You go through the cutting wheels pretty quick.

Oh ya,don't get that stuff through Eastwood.Your local hardware store or welding shop will have all you'd need.

I bought an "el cheapo" at Harbor Freight. I don't know if there's one in your area. I don't even know what RPM (I'm at work). Grinds the hell out of everything I've tried. And yes, you will need lots of cutting wheels.

i got my ryobi 4" grinder at home depot for $25, get a few grinder discs, cut off wheels, i plan on trying out strip discs and the "flapper" discs for finishing welds down

Honestly, there isn't a real good grinder made anymore. All of the name brands have gone overseas for manufacture.

I buy name brand ones a still go through 3 or 4 a year. Some other weldors tell me Metabo is the best available nowdays and will last for a long time. I haven't found any place local that sells them though, so I keep smoking Dewalts frequently.

I have a 4" small shaft Ryobi and a large shaft 4 1/2" Black & Decker. I typically use the 4" with cutoff wheels for tighter places and use the 4 1/2" with flapper disks and grind wheels, mostly the flapper disks. Both seem to be holding up real well for me, about 2 years on each so far.
