Can a powersteering gearbox be rebuilt? Or is it just better to get a new one? Mine is leaking from the bottom seal. Thanks for any suggestions.

Just about anyone you get will be rebuilt, I don't think you will find an outfit that will rebuild your any cheaper than you would find at a parts house.

My power steering gearbox is also leaking
from the bottom seal. I thought about trying
to rebuild it...but that might be beyond
the limit of my skills. Went to a junkyard and got another for $50 bucks. Have watched it for 3 days now and no leaks. Fingers crossed.

I bought a rebuilt one from Napa for $65. No problems yet.

You can get a seal kit at O'Reilly's for it, and it shows a parts breakdown and instructions on how to replace it. I got one for mine and put it in NO MORE LEAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm cheap. I'd just go to a junk yard, and find one under any C/10 - C/30, from '68 to 76...but that's me.

Longhorn you can go all the way up to 87, just use the hoses and the valves that the lines screw into from the 87 metric pump, It is an exact bolt up.

autozone sells new rebuilts for about $65 or a rebuild kit for about $12.00. Rebuild it, it is easy, only takes a couple hours and saves a bunch o doe. I did, do leaks.

I checked this out. Auto Zone sells a replacement (read rebuilt)
power steering gearbox (not pump) for about $150 + $90 core.
I think were talking apples and oranges here.

This sounds more like it. If someone can get a rebuilt unit for $65, I will take 10
