67 swb in New Mexico

Hello everyone. First time poster but I have been trolling the board for a couple of weeks getting some good info. Now I have a question. I’m working on a 67 SWB. It is a frame off and as many of you know you change ideas many times as you go. I have converted the Front drums to Disc. I used my original cross member and A arms. I got 71 ball joints and spindles. This all bolted up fine. Of course the ball joints off the 67 were not long enough. I had all new 67 tie rods and such. Of course they would not work either. Got the new 71 replacement parts and installed them. I’m putting in power steering also. The 71 steering gear box does not bolt up flush to the frame like the old steering box did. I guess I can put some kind of spacer in to get it square to the frame.(any suggestions would be great) Also the Pitman arm and Idler arm don’t look like they will match up to the center link(center link is rubbing on Cross member) any ideas. Learning as I go.

I'm pretty sure the '67 frames are the only years that didn't have an indentation in the frame for the power steering box, that's why it won't fit flush.

I "think" you can heat the offending area and whack it with a hammer to gain the necessary clearance though. Perhaps someone else can give you a more definite answer though.

Edit: Oh yeah, welcome to the board!

As I understand it using a spacer can cause steering stability issuses and lead to very touchy steering.
