Longhorn frame ?
Hello everyone I just joined yesterday, this is a great site.
I have a few questions for everyone, I bought a Longhorn frame to try to use on my 69' GMC LWB 4X4 is it worth cutting down and converting it to 4X4. If everyones opinion is no it will probably go for sale. My frame is in pretty bad shape so I may be looking for another. Thanks |

open up microsoft paint, click image on the tool bar, stretch/skew, and set the percent

It's not worth all of the work. Even if you had a LONGHORN bed to go with the frame.....you would still have to modify an cut up the front end. It's not simply just removing the front 2 wheel drive suspension and bolting on the 4 wheel drive axle. The front hangers are about the only thing that bolt on. As for the rear hangers (on the front leaf springs).......the holes in the Longhorn frame don't line up correctly.....and re-drilling is only part of it. The frame is also shaped differently at the rear hangers....cutting and welding are required!!The list goes on!!!!!!! Unless you like pain and aggravation (Or unless someone makes some conversion kit???? but I don't think so?).....I wouldn't recommend it! Just find a clean used 4 wheel drive frame.....It your best bet and would save you a world of time!!
