Power Steering & Power Brakes
I was just on GMCPauls website checkin out the kits for power brakes and power steering. Has anybody ordered and installed either of these kits? Also the 7" and 9", whats the difference?

Not to take any money out of their pockets but most people use used parts for these conversions. I used a booster I bought from a boardmember (palf70step) for less than $50 to do the conversion. For ps (assuming v-8) the brackets pump and box should be fairly available used on the parts board.

Some guys like new for a perfect, first class restoration or to paint and have full confidence in...and if you are one of those get it from a vendor on this board. They are all great guys that will help you out and really stand behind their products. I am a self-confessed "bottom feeder" and get mine from the junkyard or my parts truck. I am sure they will strand me some dark night in the rain but that is just what I expect and it will make me stronger in the end... !

I bought my kit from Paul (brakes). Had only one problem, the caliper pins where not in the kit. I found these at a local store and completed the install,When I contacted them they said they would overnite them to me, I told them that I had already found them a few days later I got a really nice hat and shirt from them, they really do stand behind what they sell!!!! Also I agree that you can save a few bucks buying used parts for the conversion but there is just something reassureing about new parts on the brakeing and steering system that feels right!!!! The 7" and 9" vac booster is relative to the vac. you have on your system, give them a call they will help you choose what you need!!!

when converting to power brakes ... what all exactly do you need besides the obvious : booster and support brace... do you need new lines??

All I had to do is bend the old brake lines out toward the front. You actually don't even have to disconnect them if you don't want to. Just unbolt the m/c and inset the booster between it and the firewall. The only thing that isn't long enough is the brake warning light wire.

I attempted to do the same thing. The power booster is from a '72 3/4ton. I have a '69 3/4ton Burb. The pushrod on the booster is too short for my current m/c. I am going to install it when I get my front discs installed & change the m/c. I imagine it will be quite a change going from manual drum brakes to power discs.
