converting from TH350/NP208 to 4spd/NP205

Okay, the engine I have, a seriously built 350 has happily ruined first and reverse in my TH350 even with a 2800 stall converter. I am ready to enter manhood and build my first mud/tow rig. I have a friend who just bought a 1984 k-5 blazer that had the back area of the body run into a tree on a drunken evening. Anyway, he only needed the engine and steering collumn. He said he would sell me the 4speed granny, np205, hydro bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, pedals, drivelines, and clutch hydraulics for $200.00. Is this a good deal? Being that it is a blazer and my new 1984 silverado K-10 is a shortbed, will the drivelines swap out? I am also going to remove the 10 bolt rear and 10 bolt front and add the 12 bolt 3.73 rear and dana 44 3.73 front axles out of my 1987 k10 mud rig. I like my 87, but KC Customs built it, which is not the problem, the problem is that they used a 4x2 low hump cab and did not line up the hole for the 208 shifter, so it will not go into any of the t-case gears very well and pops out when it jerks with a hit of the throttle.

84 shouldnt have a hydraulic clutch. i'm using a 2wd cab as well with my 465/205 swap (among other things swapped ). just find the proper 465/205 floor hump, cut a hole in the floor, bolt the hump in and call it good.

Th hump will not just bolt into a 2wd auto truck cab. The floor in the center is physically 2 inches shorter than the manual style cabs.

Later model "stick shift" Blazers are pretty rare, I'm not enirely sure that I have ever even seen one in an '84. Also I would expect to see a NP208 transfer case, not a NP205

My mistake. It is an NP208 transfer case. My 2wd cab does not work because it is a factory collumn shift auto trans cab. My 87 is the same way. The 87 will keep the auto and NP208, I just bought a t-case lowering kit and took off the body lift and it is fine now. My 1984 silverado k-10 has a bolt in, high center hump for 4x4 or 4x2 with a floor shifter. The 84 silverado will be getting the 84 blazer 4 speed and t-case. I hope the drivlines work because if they don't then I have to use a lathe and bandsaw and cut my own shaft, and the have it re balanced(there are backyard ways of avoiding the balancing part).

the front shaft should work, if you're pulling the shafts out of the Blazer, the rear will be too short

a little more than that, the Blazer wheelbase is 10" shorter than the SWB K10

Okay, finalized the deal for the 84 Silverado K-10 today, I got her for $450.00 cash. She has a 1 row radiator, a 305, Holley Dominator II intake, Carter POS carb(full of squirrel droppings), and some wicked finned aluminum valve covers I've never even seen before. Cab is perfect. The passenger door is flawless and has trouble closing, the driver door is smashed, but it closes and lines up perfect... go figure. Gauges all dead, a window was knocked out and rain got in the truck, so it gets a new interior and new fuses and a new dash cluster, most likely with a tach. I will be selling my 87 K-10 and will most likely just keep the 305 in the 84 rather tha swap it all out. The 87's NP208 is kind of tired. It doesn't have quite the take off speed in either 2 hi or 4 hi that I want, it also want 2000RPM's to move in those ranges, but if I put it in 4 lo, I don't even hit the gas to move. Very strong motor as I said. Good old truck... who knows, I may have to caugh up the 40 bucks a month and store it in a storage shed. I was brought to tears a week after I sold the old 76. I built her from scratch, on my own, with no prior knowledge and the help of my dad with a few things. Anyway, a week after I sold it with only 312 miles on the engine, not even broken in yet, I saw the truck covered in mud and running like crap. She was dented and beaten up too. I could not understand how some terd could do that to all of my hard work for over a year in one week. I may never sell one again. I may just build the 87 and 84 an keep them and them alone.
