Greetings fresh off the turn up truck
Hey y'all... new to the board as I just decided to fix up the ole 72 GMC lwb that I've used as a hunting truck the past 2 1/2 yrs... its a good starting point for a slow build driver... PS,PB, 3 on the tree, pretty straight, rust in the lower doors... but am perplexed by the 2-tone paint... any help as the code on the glove box says 556 Dk/olive MD olive and it looks to be orig paint... see look
any help would be appreciated... Gary |

Welcome. Looks like a good truck you got there. (I think you picked up a hitch-hiker somewhere)

it's much worse than the pic shows...
Actually, its ruff and the drip rail filler is cracking... the bottom of the doors are blistering, the tops by the felts are oilcanning(BTW-how do fix that?)
needs new exhaust... an OD tranny would help as its really low geared.. new heater fan control... defost hoses... no radio... seat has broken springs.. quarter window pivot is rusted through... a couple pin holes in the bed... a new paint job,, gas gauge... interior needs painting... fender apon under battery rusted though... chrome starting to flake and rust... but overall its there with only one real dent and its minor... the grill is straight, the bumper too!!!All the molding is there and pretty straight... anyone wanna tell me the best way to bring the old molding aluminum grill back to life? It runs, but roughly as its too rich... and who knows what else, but I've never had to add oil, although my milage has been about 4k a yr... MY PLANS:-I want to attack the cancer... gut it out and get a good paint job on it... either replace the tranny or at least put a floor shifter in it... My plans are a smooth running clean truck that I will use as such... Not a show piece, but not a POS that my wife cringes at... besides my five year old son loves the thing... must be the blown out glass packs??? I don't want to make a hot rod out of it, you know a basic clean old truck... |
