someone was askin me about an original glove compartment and where he could find one. he said that the only hits he had got so far wanted around $300.
what r these 'original' glove compartments and what r they made of? ive never heard of it or even read of it on here

Thats odd, well you can get the insert for the glove box on ebay for like $10 plus shipping. They have ones for A/C and non A/C trucks.

I guess I'm not sure whats going on with the $300 thing.

they were made of cardboard on these trucks.If you need one I may have one for a non air truck if you need it.

Somewhere around here I have a NOS GM glovebox insert. It came from GM unassembled. In other words, it's flat and not stapled together. It has all the creases in it so it can be. That's strange....$300.00.....The repops come assembled and ready to use and look exactly the same as the GM piece. Those things are made of thick paperboard type material. It would take a heavy duty stapler to put a NOS one together.

$300 wow! It must be made of carbon fibre (lol) I've only seen the repops as mentioned. What was GM thinking with using cardboard anyway? Maybe a last minute deal, whoooops we forgot about the glove box....... lets brainstorm.

You can stop by a GM dealer and buy one for about 10 bucks. Like Gonebad said though, you will get the pleasure of assembling it yourself if you must have a GM part. Aftermarket is much easier and same price.

Beware on the aftermarket boxes, there are two levels of quality. The better ones are produced by Bowtie Bits, and cost a little more than the cheapies. I don't know who handles which ones other than Jeff told me he convinced Chevy Duty to start selling his about two years ago.

IIRC the GM "NOS" boxes just fold together. I tried to get an AC one about a year back from the dealer and they said they were NLA.

Jeff's liners are far better than any we have tried, even gm.

You can make them out of the card board that covers the gas tank in the cab if you have an extra one and use whats left of the original glovebox for a pattern; use a staple gun for the authentic look.
