Does anybody have any pictures of any late model chevy's bed on our model of trucks? I am thinking about swapping beds and I was wanting to get a better look at it. Also, what are you guys take on this look and how much of a pain is it to do?

im not crazy about the look of a new model stepside bed. id stick with the old and fix it.

I guess my reasoning is that I'm not very familiar with body work and do not know how much it would cost to redo my bed. I also would like a metal bed for the purpose of not always worried about scratching up my nice wood bed. I really don't know what is all entailed in fixing my bed. No wood at all and rust on all three panels.

a 2000 and up style side bed. I have seen one on a 69 and it looked sharp. It mine ever finishes I’m using one

There is a guy around the corner from me with a yellow 70 GMC with white racing stripes offset (not to my taste) and he has a late model tepside bed on his. Personally I'm not fond of it either, but I actually have a good stepside bed. You can always buy a rubber mat to put down on the bed when you want to haul stuff. That's what I'm going to do as soon a s I get off my arse and refinish the wood.

i like the look, but is anyone else bothered by one round wheel opening and one squared off?

This issue has been discussed numerous times. Just a personal preference. Either you like the new style or you dont. Some people arent bothered by the wheel openings, some are. Nobodys come up with a way to address this without a lot of work. I always thought about cutting down a regular fleet side bed to the width of a step side and then grafting in step fenders, giving it a modern feel with the right fender openings.

You have seen pics of my project. I want to put a2000 ish sport side on it. I hope to mold in a set of wheel lips off a 2000’s front fenders. The only thing I’m gonna pass on is shaving the drip edges off the cab.

Just get some 1 1/2 sq tubing use that as spacers i have crawled under one and it was clean they just took 1 1/2 sq tube and layed it on its side and ran a bolt into it and the original bed mount spots on the frame and then ran a bolt into the bed in its original mount spot.

you could mount with the tubing or you can build your own mounts.

Hey dude do it YOU WILL LOVE IT I put a '94 stepside on mine and it looks great!!! the only problem is with those pics given before they arent shaved up clean or still have stock accessories. Mine is fully shaved with $150.00 euro taillights that really make it.

I agree i too have a 69 with a late model bed with shaved everything and it looks pretty good.

I'm in too ! My '67 has a '96 bed with the taillites filled and the rear steps shaved, relocated handle and LED's with a bed cover to make it smooth. Then bag it, shave the rails and door handles and add a cowl hood. Throw in a ZZ4/700R4 and a 4:10 pos for the street and it becomes a real go anywhere ride.

Definitely not a fan of that setup. Maybe if you could get the wheelwells to match, but it looks very bad IMO with mismatched wheelwells.
