Income tax refund/ manual 3 speed rebuild kit
Hey guys, just ordered the front and rear sway bar, rear disc brake kit and
master cylinder from classic performance products for my truck. (there goes the tax refund). Where could I locate a rebuild kit for a factory 3 speed transmission? Are any of you aware of a parts vendor where I could get a new or rebuild steering column with the 3 speed manual mechanism intact. I am considering putting my 3 back on the tree if possible. Thanks for the replies.

May be easier to just find a good 3 speed. I have one sitting in my yard that I am pretty sure is in working order.

I bought one from a 'yard a few years back for $70 bucks. Put about 15,000 miles on it before I swapped to a v-8 700R4.

try some of the local driveline shops, for the rebuild kit . you should be able to get thre brass rings (syncros_. front /rear bearings, thrust washers, & needle bearings for the counter gear. the last one i did was a while back , & it ran around $100 for a saginaw 4spd kit.......69L

I overhauled one for my stock car last year. The Master rebuild kit was about seventy bucks, and the synchros were about twenty. You should be able to purchase, or order the parts at any decent parts store. I have a friend who works at a driveline shop so I ordered the parts there. It's a very easy trans to overhaul, and worth the effort. I highly reccomend synthetic gear oil. It'll run much quieter, last longer, and not shift as sluggishly on cold mornings. I use Redline.

Nope.. Redline's the only synth. gear oil I've used.

I think drivetrain.com should be able to help you out.I have used him for three rebuilds and all are still on the road.

thanks for all the replies, guys.
my 3 speed is in working order, just thought i would rebuild, while it is out, rear seal leaks bad when disconnected from drive shaft. Any ideas on a steering column with a new 3 speed manual mechanism for purchase?
