I am putting a new turnsingal handle on my colum next week,it is from Ron Francis and has a push button on the end to replace my dimmer switch.My tilt is a little loose.How do I adjust/repair it while it is apart?It is a van colum.I am putting the dimmer on the colum because I am one-legged.Now that I ran new wires and relays to the headlights,I can't leave them on high.

From my experience the looseness is probably in the screws that hold the support to the column as they can loosen up. It is either the screws are loose or the shoes and/or pins that the shoes ride on. I have never seen the trunions wear enough to cause a problem.

If you don't have the schematic, I will be glad to fax you one.

Some slop can be cured by adjusting the nut below the spring and canel cam.
I just did one with the turn signal in place but it would be easier without the turn signal switch in the way. The threads are fine thread. I used a small needle nose vice grip as I did not have an extra deep socket.
