casting numbers ...
Trying to see what yr of block and heads do I have .The casting numbers are 3970010 for the block and the heads are 3946813 . Thanks

While there's already a thread on this - where can I look on my truck for casting numbers? I'm curious to find if my motor is an original motor or a drop in, I'm betting it's not original but it'd be nice if it were.

Decoding the suffix code, (located on the right front of the engine block) should give you the information that you need.

Man I cannot find this code on the front, is it under the water pump maybe?
The engine casting number is 3999290 The intake manifold is 6263753 The exhaut manifolds are RH 353030 ?M? could be 11 LH 3994045N |

There is a pad approximately 3/4" wide by 2" long at the right front of the engine block. It is like an extension of the block deck. If you have AC than it will be hard to see. The pad could also have a lot of paint on it. The pad is at an angle but the stamped surface faces upward so you should be able to see it. If you can't find it repost and I will take a pic of a pad.
