Passing gear problem.....

when driving my truck..when u begin to get on it, the passing gear engages ( down shifts) cept that the truck starts picking up speed fairly rapidly, and it never seems to want to shift back into 3rd gear unless u entirely let up on the gas....does anyone else have this problem, or is it somethign that i can fix
let me know.
thanks

Kevin

Check your kickdown cable and make sure it's attached.

If it is a Turbo 350 trans it has a governor-it controls wide open throttle shifts (vacumn modulator controls part throttle shifts).

All th350s will have a governer, its on the side of the tranny above the back corner of the pan. I dont have a pic of it though. If I remember right its not hard to take apart and make sure its working right.
