One of the first purchases for the dually will be new a fuel tank. The first owner put in an after market (drivers side) that was not a stock unit and didn't set up to change over correctly. Are the plastic tanks to replace the metal style for side impact or just to be lighter.

I thought about doing this on my truck. The plastic tanks are lighter and will not rust. They say it will not puncture or tear open in a crash, so that would be a big safety plus. The downside to all of this is the price, they are twice as much as the new metal tanks. Since my truck has dual tanks, I stayed with the metal tanks. If you plan on keeping your truck a long time or if your going to be driving it all the time, It would be worth while, IMO. JC Whitney has these in the catalog. David

I'm going to park the truck most of the time and use it only for towing. The other side of the question is which tank sweats more. I will of course fill the tanks before leting the truck sit. Louis
