Does carpeting need to be molded?
Or can I look for and use regular (flat) carpet that one would put in their home?
Has anyone ever done this? Got pics? Thanks! |

I did this back in the always broke teenage years. It's not worth it! It dosen't look or fit very good . You can get molded carpet for about $100, and that flat carpet $20-$30?? I don't know, Is it worth it to you?

It's not the cost thing--I was just thinking of all the different patterns, colors & styles that would be available for something a little different. But if unmolded doesn't look right...

Carpet
I had a 76 van which had a flat floor so I thought I could use regular carpet in it. After it was all said and done I ended hand stiching to get rid of the folds. Never again.

Nothing in particular, just thinking how a black & white checkerboard carpet might look in my gray & black 82 Silverado.

I used non molded automotive carpet in my Blazer just to get rid of the old junk in a hurry. Paid $100 for enough to do whole floor dash to gate. Looked ok for what I wanted while building my truck, It fit terrible over the hump. This year I am going quality molded when I put the new seats in.
If you only want to do it once, spend the extra. Doug |

Make sure you get the right molded carpet for your truck, you will need to know is it for a large hump or small hump. On mine I had to use a heat gun to help mold the carpet. Just heat it up real good while laying it where needed to mold then lay something down on it or even put a little glue to hold it in place.
