Any ideas tips or tricks to swap a set of rear coils?

chock both front wheels jack the jack the truck up put jack stand under the rear to leave enough room for the rear to hang leave the jack under the pumpkin and cut the rivets that hold the springs then lower the jack slowly the springs will unload safely and put your new springs in

i jacked the back of my truck up and put it on stands once to do my shocks, a buddy leaned on the back of my truck and it rolled forward off the stands and on to the ground, i was under it. thank god for tall tires, and a clean pair of undies

Thats the problem. I don't thing the actual assembly will be too difficult. I am just worried about getting the truck in the air without it rolling off the jack stands.

One of my upper bolts that secure the spring to the frame was so badly rusted that a breaker bar sheared the head right off, 3/4 incher. Other than that, it was a snap. I did also vice grip the lower spring/cup assy to the frame to hold it in place when I took it off and re-assembled it. I just could not get a good angle on the square keeper inside of the cup to hold it in place. Don't know if the earlier models are set up like my 71 frame is, but that's what I did.

Use jackstands and block the tires...

When I did mine I used a pair of 6 ton stands and put them under the frame ahead of the rear end. And yes, block the front wheels front and back.
