69 Gmc Short Step - Rare?
Down the road from me, is the above truck. I haven't seen this truck move in 4+ years, so stopped saturday to see if he was interested in selling it. He told me some story about wanting to rebuild it since it is such a rare truck being a short step made by GMC. Any reality in that, or just a lame excuse not to sell it?
Not really missing much, it was rusted pretty bad, most of the interior was trashed or missing, and the 3speed had been replaced with a 350 auto...

I don't know production numbers, but I guess by Chevy standards they are more scarce. GMC trucks in these years were all a little rarer if he wants to use that term because there were less GMC's made every year. You don't see a whole lot of them, but I wouldn't think that they are what you classify as a truly rare, meaning I'm sure there were more than like several hundred made.

GMC trucks run about 1/3 of chevrolet truck numbers. I have a GMC short step and don't consider it any rarer than any other GMC.

GMC's may be rarer in numbers, but the Chevy's are more desirable by the majority and in so fetch a higher price tag all other be equal... so I would guess the owner is talking up his price... there are enough trucks out there to not overpay for one that has been sitting and needs to be fixed up... but in turn you can spend a lot more in fixing up a lot of things than paying a lil more for a more solid one in the first place.... Good Luck.. Value, as an ole timer says, its worth what ever someone will pay for it.. See a truck for what it is as it sits, not the potential of the project you envision....
