83 box on an 88?

I asked this on the 88-98 forum with no luck. Will a (longbed) box from a 1983 C10 fit a (longbed) 1988 1500? Is it a direct swap?

Thanks!

The 88-98 frames are wider than the 73-87 frames, you might be able to make it fit but I don't think it would be a bolt-on.

That's what I thought. I just happened to be in the odd situation of having a relatively rust-free long box from an 83 C10 parts truck, and a rusted out box on my Dad's 1500.

Maybe I'll offer the box here on the board once the weather warms up a bit.
