Who makes the best carpet kit??? full cab length??

Hey everyone,

I would like to get a good carpet kit for my 68 shortbed. What are my possibilities?

Are there any that go all the way to the back of the cab? I don't have a fuel tank in the cab.

Thanks, Mark

I ordered mine from Tim Christian and ask for the one that goes all the way to the back of the cab because I eventually plan on removing the tank. I haven't intalled it yet but the quality looks seems great and the tag says 67-72 column wo tank.

I ordered several different things at the same time so I don't remember exactly but I want to say $129 or $139 shipped. It's the good style with the extra padding attached underneath. Shoot Tim a pm and he'll give ya a price, he's a great person to deal with.

Thanks for the responses.

I actually have a ACC kit that I tried yesterday and it doesn't seem to fit at all. It doesn't seem wide enough. It also doesn't reach all the way to the back of my cab.

Does your truck have the high Transmission hump? I got mine full lenght from ACC and its fits like a glove. They also have carpet cover that will work where the gas tank was.

When I ordered my carpet the first time from ACC, I forgot to mention to them that I was planning on removing the gas tank. I had them make mine from a mocha color they offered. When I ordered it, I had them make matching floormats as well. They did a great job! I had to order a patch piece from them to fill in for my mistake, but it looked good.

Since I am rebuilding my truck again, I ordered a replacement carpet and made sure to tell them this time that I removed the tank. The lady I spoke with say that they would leave it "long". This added an extra 18 inches and I can trim for a perfect fit since I wanted it to roll up behind my Dano rear cab wall cover. I highly recommend pulling the new carpet out of the box and letting it warm up in the sunlight for a few hours before trying to install it. Sometimes the backing can be stiff and harder to work with.

Maybe I don't have the right carpet kit. It seems to narrow and some of the molding is at the wrong spots. I changed to a low hump a long time ago and that's what I ordered it for. How much work work are these ACC kits supposed to take to put in? If I tried any harder I think it would take at least five hours of work. I ordered it from early classic and it came in a ACC box.

Any hints?

Something's wrong--they usually fit like a champ?? You might "carefully" apply a little heat from a heat gun or a hair dryer.....? But you may just want to send it back to EC for exchange.

You might ask them about the color fast feature of the carpet. I ordered a black carpet
from a dealer in KY and within 6 months it had faded to a dark brown.
