Is this option dealer added??

The longhorn I bought not too long ago has a locking glove box and I was wondering if this was dealer added? Could it be factory? Thanks for any help

if it isn't listed in the glove box...it is probably dealer installed. i've seen where the dealers had these....don't recall seeing it listed as a RPO.

My '72 also has a locking glove box, but it doesn't show up on the sticker. I don't have a special key for it and the key for the truck doesn't work in it. Would this be consistent with a dealer installed item?

It's possible a PO switched it over. I find a LOT of 60 -66 P/Us had locking glove boxes but it seems to be discontinued in 67+. Junk yards are a good source for these - you can often find the key on the dash or in the glove box. I am sure some venders sell the new as well with keys.

Ignition key is what works on the glove box. Personally I cant see why the dealer would change all the locks in the truck just to get a locking glove box, I think it came from the factory like that.

I don't think mine was added (can't confirm this though) My key is different than the ign, its a round older type for the glovebox lock. Classicchev might be on to something, maybe the original (factory) ones were keyed alike with the doors & ignition so there was only 1 key for the whole truck.

I was able to find RPO 0165....It lists it as Compartment Lock - Instrument Panel...Not confirming it...Just posting what I found.
