I got this truck at an auction on Monday. 1972 1 ton, 6cyl, 4-speed, very plain truck. It is factory black with GREEN interior !! Never seen a black one with green before?? Not sure what I am going to do with it yet, It has perfect doors and a very nice cab. I am either going to sell the whole thing or I am going to use the cab and doors on a 4x4 project later.???

This thing has 18" wheels on it. But it only has 4, not all 6.

Wow, that looks really nice. I still grin when I see a one-ton with a six. Can you imagine someone today buying a dually with a six cyl? Don't get me wrong, I think they're great engines and back then they did the job well (TORQUE!). But to plunk down around 30 grand and get a six pot...guess that's why they don't offer them in 3500s anymore.

Whats the Maximum GVW on that one . Looks like a 133 inch wheel base model., is it the 14000 Maximum GVW?
If you end up parting it, keep me in mind for the rear brake drums, Now if I could only find a good cab for my 1 ton tow truck.
I say make a tow truck or flat deck but looks like you got a decent trailer already.

hhmmmm, a 1 ton with a six. If I read some where correct didn't the 1 tons that got 6's also come with a 4-speed and 5.14 gears?

Yep, I think you are correct. Fast had an inline truck that would red line at about 45 MPH.

Yep Guys, I looked up the rear end numbers and it has a 5:14 gear !!! I dont see how any one was able to drive these things when they were new. The truck is supposed to only have 51k miles on it ??? Mabey it is, heck at 45 mph top speed who would have want to drive it any where ????

Can you imagine someone today buying a dually with a six cyl? Don't get me wrong, I think they're great engines and back then they did the job well (TORQUE!). Plan on tubs 18.5's out back! (thanks Burnsman!) 71 SWB Stepside, was a 250, now is a 402 Big Block with 4 speed and 3.73's ( was crushed by a tree, bed sold, motor pulled) was my first truck!... oh well... 72 LWB 4x4 350 4-speed 3.08's posi wearing army olive drab green (SOLD!) 68 BURB 50TH LOOKALIKE work in progress, soon to have 250-I6 with a 3-speed on the tree 4.11's and posi ( currently sitting in back yard tarped awaiting time, $$$, and lots of love!) 67 1 TON- work truck 396 sm 420 4-speed, flat bed 4.57 gears "big red" (my first landscape truck, very rusty and crusty! but still gets the job done when needed!)
