Desperately needed! Bronze thrust washer D44 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

There is a bronze thrust washer before the axle shaft goes into the spindle. Dealer can't get me a part #, and I can't find the dang thing anywhere!

Anyone know what I am talking about, and does anyone have one? Would be more then happy to pay a few bucks for it...

If anyone has a GM parts manual, if you could get me a part #, I would be eternally grateful.

Try one from a newer truck. They are some kind of nylon type plastic, but they seem to wear very well. Remember to put it on with the wide part of the taper away from the spindle side. That taper is to fit around the radius on the axle itself. There is a rubber seal there too.....

Yup, it's part of a kit. You should be able to get one at any parts store - at least those with intelligent help. I think the little lip seal and the Torrington bearing come with it.

Try a bearing sales store for the spindle seal kit. Should be cheaper than auto parts stores. Usually by 10-30% at my local bearing sales.

Guy tried as hard as he could to cross reference the part and we came up blank... Finally I told him to lookup the part for a 76 K5 with a D44 (last year in their computer system), and got a part # for the spacer. I am SURE that a spacer for a 76 D44 will work for a 71 D44 (discs). Even if it's Nylon or whatever.

#376852 is what we ended up with, and I ordered it. It will be in tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I just did an 87 3/4 ton and the spacers are plastic and the same.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm missing. Wish I could have found em, but I guess the plastic will work fine.

Found you one in Napa, Ca.
The guy must be on drugs though. $31.68 for one. I just bought some more for $2.00 each.
