Cool got a chance to buy a 54 5 window 1/2 ton should I?

Hi guys just a quick question, my friends dad has a 54 5 window for sale, the body is in really good shape and it looks to be all there. There is no motor or tranny, what do you think I should pay for it, he wants $2000 for it. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

For 2K, it should be in really good shape. I really like the style and might be willing to pay it, IF there is NOTHING to do body-wise.
If you decide to get it, I'm getting rid of the entire drivetrain out of my project. Fit like a dream (unless it's been modified).
Pictures?

Yeah, i'll probably have pics here in a couple of days when I get a new digicam. I am actually thinking of putting an s-10 frame under it to kinda modernize it. Are there any common rust areas I need to look out for?
By the way I just love your quote!!!!!!!!!!

Rust...
The very items that I am pricing for replacement:
Inner cowl panels (also called kick panels)

Inner to outer cowl panels. (also called cowl inner panels)
You can see these by sticking your head in the front fenders and looking towards the area to the back..to the bottom. The rust will usually be on the bottom part.

Other areas:
Inner door bottoms
Rear cab corners
Floor pan (mainly in areas by the parts I've mentioned that I'm replacing above)

I'll have some new photos on my website this weekend showing the existing areas that I'm talking about before I remove them to put in the new panels.

On the frame, I've thought back and forth about it (IFS or clip out of something else). I'll end up going with the front clip out of something and a Fjord 9 inch or Chevy 12 bolt rear axle. I think I want to end up with a 4 bar rear suspension.

The quote? Pure experience! You rarely get rewarded for good performance and belittled for mistakes.

Hey thanks 3100 special for the replies, i'll be looking out for these areas, I know all the rust out areas on a 1972 and quite frankly, I'm friggen sick and tired of rust, maybe I will try to fix the rust on my currant project before I try to start another.
