Gonna make mine just like yours!!!!

Does that bother anyone else? There is actually a guy in town that made his truck almost exactly like mine only the wheels are a bit different. Now I know my truck is not the most custom created truck out there but why spend time/money to make your truck look just like someone elses? anyway, I just thought it was kind of weird. Anybody else get that?

Its flattery at its worst. I take styling cues from some, ideas from others, but I build my truck the way *I* want it to be. Not just to copy someone else. Isnt that the whole point of customizing these suckers, to have one that no one else has?

I know how you feel Adam. Back in '95 I painted my truck Yellow..mainly because there were NO yellow trucks around and I wanted to be different. Wouldn't you know shortly thereafter Dodge came out with their yellow Dakotas...before you know it, yellow trucks everywhere! Not that I started the trend, but..it still sucked.

Yesterday I was surfing Ebay, and came across this truck...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

I have been building Yeller for the past 4 years to look similar to this (minus the black stripe, front end, and painted bumper)...other than those areas..it is almost a duplicate of what I have been driving in my head since 2001.

Oh well...but I do know how you feel.

I don't know, I'm planning to make mine "look" stock. Like the thousands that came off the showroom floor. But then again, I don't see many out there today that still look like that. Anyhow, I suppose it would be weird if someone wanted to do exactly the same thing if I was going to customize mine. Jeff- that truck on eBay was amazing!

Maybe it was the 5 mpg, or the "I don't want to sell it in TX or anywhere there're emissions tests." I dunno, just a guess.

sharing ideas and taking some and making them your own is one thing but exact replication is a lack of creativity. bad move i say.

It could be worse. My buddy Keith (n2billet) had a Mazda pick up quit a few years ago. He had a mutual friend paint some pretty wild graphics on it. They were truly one of a kind, and very unique at the time. He had a guy that lived in his area copy the truck graphics included.....

when i had my tahoe, right before i sold it, i had the black 20s with the polished lip on it, and the totally black outside with no badging, parked it in a high traffic area during the FAMU/BCC college classic, and now there are 3 suburbans and 2 other tahoes out there that have done what i have did(limo tint, black rims with polished lip, and debadge), heh, except they dont have the fully tinted winshield and the euro cut corners and park lamps, only way my truck is still know around town
