What oil to use in 67 and 05 trucks?
I have a 67 with a new rebuilt 383 stroker that I use valvoline 30 wt in and I just bought new 2005 SWB 6cyl 5sp truck and its about time for its first oil change. I was going to use Valvoline 5w30 with an A/C delco filter. I am unsure about the advantages of synthetic oil in either of these trucks. I bought this new truck just as a commuter vehicle to work, It had a sticker of $19,800 I got them down to $12,700 and I had about $2,250 on my GM card credit so it cost me $10,500 ! I couldn't buy a used one for that, hell my 67 is worth more than that ! Thanks

On your 05' your right, it's just a normal 5w-30 oil, also the AC-Delco is a good filter. To save a few bucks, I don't know if you know but Napa oil is Valvoline, just in a different bottle and a little cheaper. Hope that helps.

I personally like the Mobile 1 synthetic, with an Purolator filter, the synth may be a bit more expensive, but it seems to last longer than the dino oil. I generally run 7500 between oil changes (yes I've done the oil analyis and could go further than that) but the cars oil change light comes on at about 7500
BTW Mobile 1 synthetic is $19 @ Wal Mart for a 5 quart jug For more info on oil that you'd ever want to know go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and browse the forums
