Tach at Idle Speed

What should a tach be reading when the engine at idle with a 396BB? If anyonw knows please let me know. Also, does anyone have a ratio adapter shaft for a TH400? Thanks!!

Depends on how it's built (and if it's auto or manual trans), not what size it is. Rough guess, 650 for mild, 800+ for street perf., higher for more radical.

Stock build

It was built to be a daily driver with a TH400 auto trans. There are no performance parts in it.
