I am going to install a HEI Dist. soon. I currently have after market plug wires.
They are hi temp. Radio suppresion 8 MM wires. Will they be compatible with the HEI dist.? Where do I hook up the fact. tach to the HEI Dist.?

The plug wires won't work. You need wires specifically for an HEI. The ones most people seem to use are ones from a 74-75 Corvette. Those were for use with an HEI distributor and Rams Horn Manifolds if that is what you have. On the HEI cap, on the drivers side, there are two plugs for the power and tach and they are labeled on the cap.

No --two wire hookup--one to tach-one to switched power.

no the fact. tach isnt gear driven. How does it connect to the HEI Dist. The existing coil has a brown and a yellow wire attached to it. Do I connect one of these to the HEI Dist?I know that I need to run a power wire from the ign. unfused section of the fuse box to the dist. I have a 402 BB , which plug wire application will work for a 402.

The yellow wire will be cut and taped off. The brown wire if it was run for the tach will be moved to the Tach connector on the new HEI. You will need 1/4" female spade quick disconnect connectors, 2 for the new power lead (normally Yellow for 10-12guage) 1 inside on fuse block and 1 outside to the HEI, and 1 female quick disconnect spade connector 1/4" (normally blue for 18-20 gauge wire) which will connect to your brown tach wire connector.
