Hello,
Working on my Blazer project and switching the 72 front over to a 68. Will my 72 radiator support work with 68 hood and fenders and inner fenders? If it will not work please let me know who has a clean one for sale or trade. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks

I am almost certain that the '72 radiator support will work fine with your 68 fenders. The major differences in the fenders were in the grille area. 67-68 have the inset grille where the later years have a grille surround that caps the fender (needing a recess). Good luck...........

You will need a 67-68 rad support, I am doing the same thing with my 71 chevy. If you notice, all the vendors sell dedicated rad supports for 67-68 and 69-72 trucks. Finding a original one is best, but unfortunatly all or most of them have cancer on the right side due to battery acid leakage from the old trucks. The 67-68 front clips are my favorite also. Good luck.

Yes, the 67-68 will have the correct hood latch mount for the 67-68 hood.

I didn't even think about the hood latch, my bad. I was thinking about fender attachment. Sorry about the bad advice......

Thanks for the replies. I am still a little confused

. So far I am taking it as I will need a 67 -68 chevy radiator support (if so, who has one??). I can't use my 72 chevy support with a 67 -68 hood latch, right? I have noticed as well that parts book always list them separate 67 -68, but have been told the only difference was the places along the bottom to bolt the splash apron to. Thanks for your help everyone, it is appreciated.

You need the 67-68 support for the 67-68 front end and the latch release is not the same as 72. Keep it simple and stick to all 67-68 parts and you will have no interchange problems.

I failed to mention that the headlight buckets are different and are located differently on the 2 rad supports as well a the hood latch support bracket that goes between the rad support and the grill is different for 67-68 fornt clips. A chevy assembly manual shows all this stuff, I got one fairly soon after I got into our truck habit. I think they are about $30-$35. If you don't have one you should look at getting one, a lot of good info can be obtained from them. I like the direction you're going. Keep it up.

Oh, and Brainchild, it was not as nearly as smooth as you would think, those cables dont flex @ all! And I am way to chicken to try bungie cords

Look at the two pictures below comparing the two. Notice the 69-72 support has a bucket spot welded to the support which the headlight fits into. The 67-68 support does not have this bucket, the headlight seats directly into the support. Plus, the headlights are in slightly different positions, so you can't simply remove the buckets to use the later support on earlier front end. Also, there is a row of weldnuts across the bottom of the 67-68 support for the lower splash pan that era truck uses.

Thanks for posting those pics TX Firefighter. I am going to search through my parts but I am almost positive that I dont have one, but this is a easy way to identify them.

I learned the hard way and wrecked a perfect 72 support. I was told that you I could just remove the headlight buckets and it would be the same. Like tx said the headlighs are in a diffirent location.
