I installed power steering in my 1972 K10 Suburban. I already had a two-belt pulley, so I did not think there would be a problem. However, when I put the belt on, it did not line up with the pump pulley. (The pump has the correct brackets, and bolted on perfectly). The pulley I have looks like it would have to be shimmed out. Is there a different pulley I can start looking for? Thanks, Joe Bob.

I'm working the same deal on mine now. I am told the pwr steering pumps can come with several different pulleys to make them align with the 1st groove, 2nd grove or a 3 groove maybe the one you have is for the first groove or 3rd grrove. If it is the first groov, just measure and run the alternator and everything off a single belt.

Some times you can shim it out with flat washers. As long as it lines up properly it will work fine.

If it's a small block, you'll need the third groove add-on pulley. It bolts onto the two groove pulley you have now and add an extra groove. Many of them were cast iron, but I've seen steel ones too.

On the parts board, primered 69 is currently asking to buy one and he has several offers, so you may be able to buy one of them that he isn't.
