I met crew70 and sakohntr yesterday. Both great guys.
Thanks for the great deal yesterday Mike!! Awesome place, nice garage too. I can't imagine how nice it must be to have a lift, I am going to have to get myself a lift, I suppose I'll need the shop first though.
Bruce, I really need a truck and trailer like yours. Nice setup you have.

Now for the stupid - pulling a Blazer on a car trailer that doesn't have brakes. If you ever get the urge to do this call me and I will talk you out of it. I am definitely putting that one up there on the "insanely stupid things that I have done" list. Thankfully I lived through it and didn't cause an accident.
It was a long trip home, and thankfully the traffic was light.

cool on meetin members but you got to get brakes on the trailer or sumthing or sumbodys goina get hurt

glad you made it ok and yes i have did the same thing pullin without brakes on the trailer but i will never do that again

I pulled a blazer from Cordelle, GA to Atlanta, then back to MS w/o any issues. PUlled it with a 96 chevy half-ton.

I've been there done that too. I hate pulling without brakes, but the brakes are messed up on the trailer and I have not had time to fix them.

If you don't have trailer brakes, you don't know what your missing. Once you pull with them, you'll never want to be without them. I pulled many years w/o. Now days I hate pulling without them.

You guys don't have to tell me that twice, I wish someone would have told me before this trip, but then again I probably wouldn't have listened.
I am not pulling again without trailer brakes.
When I pulled up to Mike's house and saw that Blazer it really sunk in that I was in for a long ride home. I am glad I learned the lesson without hurting anyone though, maybe it's age catching up with me

The thing that didn't help matters was I was pulling with the 71 SWB, so the weight behind me was nearly twice as much as the pulling truck.

Glad you made home OK Shawn, it does get scary without trailer brakes, I had the same problem about 5 years ago, and I said never again. You finally met Bruce he is a great guy, good to hear he has a trailer again!!!

Yeah shawn had a serious load going home. Your shortbox sure is straight and clean. It was good to meet ya and even better to see mikes old crewcab again. That truck of his is like the pinnacle of 67-72's. I hope he gets her back on the road this summer. I bet it rides like a cadillac but still takes two timezones to turn it around. The last time I pulled a trailer without brakes I put the pull truck,trailer and load over a 15 foot deep ditch. I think what really saved me was the truck and trailer jack knifed...

About two weeks ago I watched a guy get on the interstate pulling a trailer with a 70 or 80's Dodge ram on it as he got on the highway the trailer got the wiggles and he lost it off into the ditch he went just after I passed him not a pretty site A driver behind me stopped and said he was ok but the ford and trailer and the Ram were a mess. the Ram was not tied down....

I towed a Bobcat on a trailer with no brakes for a few years that way
.........white knuckle ride i tell ya!!My new trailer has brakes and that is the only way to go.
the trailer wagging around thing is from not been loaded right(60%of the load a head of the triler axle)Load a pick-up on the trailer backwards and see what happens!!Just a good way of rolling the package in the dicth.
Always tie the load down too.I wacthed a brand new fridge take flight out of a pickup one time........what a mess!The one 1" ratchet straps will not hold a car on the trailer if somthing happens.I always use Chain and boomers(Binders to some)and cross chain every thing that is haul on the trailer too

This reminded me of the time I saw a fella haulin a mattress and boxspring out on the hiway.He didn't tie it down apparently,and just as we met him,the boxspring flew up out of the box and into the grill of the crude hauler following him.WOOOOOHOOOOO what a show!Totally obliterated faster than you can imagine.Thankfully the hauler never missed a beat and everything was good.
