Radiator support - Need suggestions - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I figured since I had the engine out now would be a good time to go ahead a fix my issue with the rad support and passenger inner fender as well as battery box. I guess acid got the best of all three of 'em over the years. My question is should I replace the whole rad support or try to have a shop weld in a new/old piece? I told my wife a few days ago I was considering converting the bed to stepside someday, today she comes out, puts a stepstool over the bed, and says "I saved ya some money honey - I made it a 'stepside'..."

i bought a battery tray and inner fender and made a patch panel out of an old fire bird door, but mine wasnt as bad as yours

I'd have to find out what the cost would be to have yours repaired. Being as cheap as I am, and it is hidden out of the way, I'd have a patch welded in...but I can get it done for free, so it's a no brainer here.

I think I would replace it. It looks like it has got a good start on being gone.

I wish getting it done for free was an option, that'd be awesome. Unfortunately, I don't and don't know anyone that welds (for free anyway). I'll make some calls tomorrow and see what some of my options are.

Hehe, I just noticed my battery box is causing the same thing - seems to be some of the only rust on my truck! Look over in the left of this pic (mine's at infant stages compared to yours, so I shouldn't ***** about it):
