Has anyone relocated their battery, somewhere other than the engine compartment or bed? I was thinking about putting under the bed somewhere and wonder what type of braket I should use.

Here's my solution. Fabricated batt box located right front of box. Took a lot of figuring, but will work.

I've seen a bat.box that will mount up high on the frame.If you need to get at it,it can be lowered down for easier removal...early classics mebbe?Sorry I don't know where,but they are out there.

Alot of street rod retailers sell trick things for this. Aren't you supposed to use a sealed battery because of the exhaust gasses???

Full size ford vans,that have aux batteries,have a box mounted on the passenger side frame rail.

I put my battery under the bed. I made a battery holder out of steel.

Here is a couple, The one is C.C.P.s

The only thing I have a problem with???? We do what we can to keep our truck theft proof as much as possible.... With one of these, All someone has to do is look under the truck and unhook the Battery,, Then he's in it, it's Hot Wired and Gone..

You would need to build something around the cable so they couldn't be taken off or cut..

I used the CCP bracket with a Optima Red Top battery. Behind the cab on the frame on the passenger side. Works great.

Ummm I dont see how moving the battery under the truck would make it easire to steel ? Would having it under the hood not be easier ?

I am assuming, That those of us that want to keep our vehicles somewhat theft proof, have a under dash hood pull catch, or maybe the hood locked down with a chain, ( My way. until it gets on the road again) But under the truck, Unless Like I specified above (by doing something to deter the thief from pulling the cables off) The Battery is totally out in the open, ( albeit under the vehicle.)

While under the hood and the hood not secured down, A thief can pop the hood, cut the alarm siren wire and get into the vehicle to start his dirty work. and if you have a starter interupt, you just run a jumper wire from the battery to the starter solenoid. Jump in the vehicle with a starter switch, unplug the wires from the one in the truck and plug them into yours which you have the key for, and again you're off.. ( I went out a few nights with a repo man friend) People would do whatever they could to keep him from picking up their cars, but he had a way around almost everything.

Then Again,,,,, You can also Hot Wire a vehicle from underneath at the starter with a remote starter switch!!!! (This is where lowered vehicles are nice.)

So I guess, where does it begin, and where does it end ??? A guy can really get carried away Huh?

But,,,, I didn't say they're not cool, they would really help to clean up the underhood area.... And I'm contemplating a more secure installation where the battery post would be protected from easy access...

Run conduit and paint it to match the bottom of the truck? Either that or a steel tube would probably work.

i mounted a red top optima inverted behind the right rear tire under the bed
no batt. box needed as it fits between the two bed "ribs" nicely.
i just bent up an aluminum brackett that fits between the two ribs & across the batt between the posts & attached to the ribs with bolts.this requires drilling access holes in the ribs for installing nuts but, it's been there for three years with no probs.

383 stroker;why did you put it on the left side?
