'86 dual tank selector valve

My '86 K10 has the dual saddle fuel tanks and I'm suspicious of the selector valve. When I switch from right to left it seems to move slowly and make a groaning sound, and when I switch from left to right the sound is shorter and more of a croak. I've been having some fuel delivery problems and I'm wondering if the valve's gone bad.

I checked napaonline.com but didn't find the valve; will I have to go to GM or ACDelco for a new one? Is it a fairly easy R&R job or will I need to brush up on my cussing skills? Thanks!

Mine has been that way since I have had it, if I haven't switched tanks in a while it groans a while going from R to L but L to R is pretty quick. Every now and then i'll just keep switching back and forth and it seems to get better.

Switch valve

Guys, when I bought my truck, the valve did not work at all. I know JC Whitney sells them, but you have to know how many lines you have running in and out of the valve. I went to my local Chevy dealer and paid $109 for the new valve and it bolted right in place, was very painless. I think the money was worth having both tanks working again.

Another place to purchase an OEM (AC/Delco) valve is from the Sam Taylor dealership in Florida. He has very reasonable GM parts and shipping. The 6-port valve (#14029228) was around $65 plus shipping. After buying one, my fuel problems were eliminated.
